Saint Veran – Chateau Fuisse – Chardonnay – 2014 (Willow Park)
I love the wines of Saint Veran. They strike a wonderful balance between the crisp minerality of a Chablis and the creamy opulence of a cru Montrachet. We have a balanced and harmonious wine here but being in the south of Burgundy we get more stone fruit and perhaps even a few tropical notes. There are some tertiary elements starting up that will likely improve with a little ageing if you can bear the wait!
Tasting Notes: The nose hits you right away with under ripe stone fruit, honeysuckle and a hint of vanilla. On the palate some apple, pear and even a hint of melon but on the finish there is some flint, hazelnut and spice. Wonderfully balanced!
