Pittnauer – Pinot Noir – 2016 (Kensington Wine Market)
This is my first kick at a Pinot Noir from Austria and this one hails from Burgenland near Lake Neusiedlersee. I must say that it is very interesting from a texture point of view as when I poured it out it had a viscosity similar to motor oil which I think may be a fault yet I did find the flavour components of this wine to be fine. I may have to try this one again to determine whether this is stylistic but I am thinking not.
Tasting Notes: Nose is fruity and pleasantly floral. As mentioned the texture of the wine is incredibly oily. Fruit is reminiscent of raspberry and strawberry and the fruits are very jammy again based on the viscosity. I think there could be some decent complexity here that is being masked by the potential fault here.
