Rockford – Alicante Bouchet – 2017 (Kensington Wine Market)
A magical wine from the Barossa Valley in Australia. Alicante Bouschet is a grape that finds its origins in Languedoc, France but enjoys greater fame in the Alentejo region of Portugal. What a unique experience as this may be the most flavourful rose wine I have tasted to date. At first you think it may be very sweet but then realize with a drier finish that it is not quite what you expected on the front. It is a different wine that you will either love to death or wonder why you shelled out $39 and curse the wine teacher! BUT I LOVE IT!
Tasting Notes: brilliant red colour, pronounced nose of ripe fruit and florals, amazing mouth feel, loaded with ripe cherry fruit flavours but this long finishing wine ends with hints of spice
