Venta Las Vacas – Ribero del Duero – 2013 (Zyn)
Moving to Ribera del Duero we experience wines with more intense ripe fruit and a change of terroir as this region is closer to the Mediterranean. I find there to be “garrigue” qualities in these wines as a result. Yet another great example of the powerful Spanish style.
Tasting Notes: Dark ripe stewed cherry on the palate with rosemary and thyme as well as some great tertiary notes of coffee and licorice on the finish. Oak is well integrated with sweet vanilla and a hint of coconut. Powerful but still approachable.
