Pittnauer Rose – 2017 (Bin 905)
Gerhard Pittnauer took over the winemaking 20 years ago at Gols in Burgenland, Austria and was named Winemaker of the Year in 2014. Gols in Roman times was called “Vila Gallus” or “Roosterville” hence the snazzy label. In Austria, there are several great varietals for making rose but this one uses Blaufrankish which can give a bit stronger tannins to the wine as well as a more dense structure.
Tasting Notes: very soft and light in colour, fragrant nose with a great floral aspect, cranberry and cherry flavours with a hint of minerality and spritz .
