Castel Sallegg – Pinot Grigio – 2015 (J.Webb)
This is the only bottle labeled Pinot Grigio of the tasting from the north end of Italy in the Alto Adige region. Of all the tastings I have done of this varietal, this wine always surfaces as my favorite. The apple is bright and fresh as this wine borders an apple orchard! The deep, sandy limestone provides fantastic minerality and a steeliness. I challenge you to find a Pinot Grigio of better quality than this!
Tasting Notes: Apple on the front palate and apple blossom on the nose. Long finish where the minerality hits you. Some lime zest and stone fruit on the back palate. A perfectly balanced and integrated wine.
