Thistledown – Chardonnay – 2013 (Metrovino)

A cool climate Chardonnay from elevated vineyards in the Eden Valley of Australia.  I have tasted amazing Riesling from this region with that unmistakable petrol quality but never really tried any Chardonnay from this area.  A really different flavour profile and nose than I was expecting from a cool climate Chardonnay.  A very interesting wine to try out but for me it was a little too tight and a bit out of balance.

Tasting Notes:  Fruit flavours of white nectarine and peach but much more citrus fruit on the mid palate along with white pepper.  There is a lot of minerality to this wine and very fresh acidity.  Lots of great components but it is a little out of balance in my view.
