Domaine Lafond – Roc Epine Tavel – 2016 (J. Webb)

The Lafond family has been growing grapes in Tavel since about 1780 and Roc Epine is actually the name of a famous race horse this wine is named after.  Tavel makes amongst the best rose in the world and this Southern Rhone wine has all the markers of a great Tavel.  It is a blend of 8 red Rhone varietals dominated by Grenache.

Tasting Notes: medium depth of colour, strong floral presence on the nose, strawberry on the palate with some spice notes, racy acidity and a long finish.
