Casa de Vilacetinho – Vinho Verde Rose – 2016 (Metrovino)
This is a light, crisp and refreshing rose from the Douro River in Portugal. It is made with the most famous red grape of Portugal, Touriga Nacional, but has a bit of Vinhao as well. It is done in the Vinho Verde style so you get slight carbonation or “spritz” that adds a little extra pop to the blend. And as a cool side note the wines of Casa de Vilacetinho were chosen by the British to serve to Queen Elizabeth II on her 1957 visit to Portugal.
Tasting Notes: medium colour, all berry on the nose, tart strawberry and raspberry on the palate, fresh acidity with a dry zippy finish.
