Pinot Noir
Pinot Noir is a thin skinned and finicky black grape that produces some of the most elegant wines in the world. It is the backbone and structure of a great champagne and it makes one of the most complex and finessed wines in the world. It does not play well with others so watch out for some of those new world countries who try to blend.
In terms of food pairings it is magical as its high acidity allows it to pair with anything from my Christmas turkey to a rich meat dish like Beef Bourguignon.
The six wines tasted in this flight were:
Manos Negros Red Soil – Pinot Noir – 2012 (Willow Park)
Jovino Willamette Valley- Pinor Noir – 2014 (Bin 905)
Fougeray de Beauclair – Bourgogne Rouge – 2014 (Zyn)
Dr. Deinhard – Spatburgunder – 2014 (Metrovino)
Pittnauer – Pinot Noir – 2016 (Kensington Wine Market)
Josef Chromy- Pinot Noir – 2015 (J. Webb)
BUT I DID THE MATH AND…….
Best Value Wine – Dr. Deinhard – Spatburgunder – 2014
Best Quality Wine – Josef Chromy – Pinot Noir – 2015
