TH Wines – Riesling – 2015
A dream of mine in retirement is to spend harvest at a winery helping from harvest to production to learn the wine making trade.
I am sure that there are many elite wine makers in the Okanagan but my number one choice would be Tyler Harlton. TH Wines are amongst the most terroir driven I have tasted. I would describe his wines as honest and a true expression of the soil they are grown in. The Riesling he has produced is outstanding.
This wine is refreshing with crisp acidity. It has the strong citrus flavors on the front palate I would expect but what is really striking about the wine is the minerality and earthiness. It gives me the same feeling I get when I come back from an October farmer’s market with fresh vegetables from the harvest. I know there is an authenticity in these products that I just cannot get from the larger sellers.
With Tyler’s wines, I feel I am getting the work of a passionate, single-minded and determined man who is creating rather than manufacturing.
